词句理解与翻译

1.This is a 100-hour reliable engine.

译：这是一台可以连续运转100小时而不出毛病的发动机。（放于语境解释）

△：理解性翻译要做的就是“多想一步，多说一句”。Reliable个人感觉真的是一个不好翻译的词。要求译者先完全理解reliable，再将它解释在译文里。直接说“这是一台工作一百小时的可靠机器”肯定是不好的。

2.”Linda is a good singer and a good dancer, a great actress and a great joker.

译：琳达能歌善舞，很会演戏，又很会开玩笑。（名词变动词，静态与动态）

△：好xx,好xx这种表达之所以读起来不地道，是因为不符合中国人一贯的表达习惯。此处静态变动态。

3.Translations of French romances, Latin histories, and saint’s lives were part of the saga tradition……

译：法国传奇故事、拉丁历史剧和使徒列传等翻译作品也属于萨迦传说的一部分。

4.He was not amused by Pitt’s unsophisticated sense of humor.

译：他对皮特那种不到家的幽默感并不感冒。

△：unsophisticated：不够有经验的，不够精致复杂的——不地道的

5.He is always politically incorrect.

译：他讲话总是不合时宜。

△：政治不正确——放于语境，联想聊天，日常使用——说不对话

词句理解与翻译

1.She recalled faintly an ecstasy（极度，狂喜）of pain, the heavy odor（气味）of chloroform （三氯甲烷，麻醉剂使用）, a stupor（昏迷）which had deadened sensation, and an awakening to find a little new life to which she had given being added to the great unnumbered multitude of souls that come and go.

拆译：把明显的主宾关系变得很自然

译：面对这样的天气，我只好穿了一件白色短礼服赴宴。

△：感觉这里only concession没有翻译出来，不仅有“只好”的意思，还有“只”的意思。

2.A new dignity crept into his walk.

译：起路来，不觉平添了几分尊严。

△：creep into翻译得很好。

3.A few of the pictures are worth mentioning both for their technical excellence and interesting content.

译：有些照片技术高超，内容有趣，值得一提。

△：因果关系在双语言环境下的表达。中文很多时候可以不说“因为所以”的

译：他年纪大了，无法参战。

△：因果关系在双语言环境下的表达

5.People who value their privileges above their principle soon lose both.

译：重利轻义，利义皆失。

△：巧用并列与中文的“利义”

拆译：长句

1.These alterations of mood were the despair and joy of Ethan Frome.

译: 她这样一会儿一种心绪，叫伊坦时而灰心，时而高兴。

△：长句打散，词组并列，“时而……时而……”让句型多变，有节奏感。本周整理的句子都有这一特点。

2.I could not venture to approach her, or to communicate with her in writing, for my sense of the peril in which her life was passed was only to be equaled by my fear of increasing it.

译: 我不敢和母亲接近，也不敢和她通信，因为我一方面深感她的处境已十分危险，一方面又深怕增加她的危险。

3.He had left a note of welcome for me, as sunny as his face.

译: 他留下一封短信，对我表示欢迎；那信写的热情洋溢，一如其人。

4.His irritation could not withstand the silent beauty of the night.

译: 面对这宁静的良辰美景，他的烦恼不禁涣然冰释了。

5.The thought that she would be separated form husband during his long and dangerous journey saddened Mrs Brown.
