公共英语水平(pets—3)笔试考试全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Furry FriendsHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 8 years old. Today, I want to tell you all about my awesome pets! I have two furry buddies that bring me so much joy and happiness. They're the best friends a kid could ask for!First up, let me introduce you to Buddy, my golden retriever. Buddy is the cutest, fluffiest dog you've ever seen! He has a beautiful golden coat that's so soft and shiny. Whenever I come home from school, Buddy comes running up to me, wagging his tail like crazy. He's always so excited to see me! Buddy loves giving slobbery kisses and he makes me laugh with his silly antics.Buddy is super friendly and loves everybody. He's a real people-pleaser! Whenever we have guests over, Buddy makes sure to greet them with a warm welcome. Sometimes he gets a little too excited and jumps up on people, but he doesn't mean any harm. He just wants to say hi and make new friends!Playing with Buddy is the best. We love going for walks together in the park. Buddy gets so hyper when he sees squirrels or birds. He tries to chase after them, but he can never catch them! It's really funny to watch. At home, we play fetch in the backyard. Buddy is a pro at catching the ball and bringing it right back to me. We can play for hours and hours!Buddy is also a very good boy. My parents taught him lots of cool tricks like sit, stay, roll over, and shake. Whenever I give him a treat, he does all his tricks perfectly. I'm so proud of my smart pup! Buddy is truly man's best friend. Now, let me tell you about my other pet, Whiskers the cat. Whiskers is a fluffy grey tabby with the most beautiful green eyes. She's a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she's a total sweetheart! Whiskers loves cuddling up next to me on the couch. She'll purr and make happy little meowing sounds. It's the cutest thing ever!Whiskers is very playful and energetic. She loves chasing after these little toy mice that have feathers on them. It's hilarious watching her jump and pounce like a real hunter! Sometimes Whiskers gets the "zoomies" and sprints around the house like a crazy cat. My parents always joke that she's burning off her unlimited kitty energy. One of my favorite things about Whiskers is how curious and adventurous she is. She's always exploring every nook and cranny of our home. If I leave my bedroom door open, you can bet I'll find Whiskers taking a cat nap on my bed later! She's also obsessed with playing in empty boxes and paper bags. Cats are so weird but I love it!Even though Whiskers seems like a tough little hunter, she's actually a real softy. She loves getting pet and cuddled. Sometimes she'll roll over onto her back and let me rub her fuzzy belly. Whiskers is so cute and snuggly!Buddy and Whiskers are the best of friends too. Well, most of the time! At first, Buddy was a little scared of Whiskers. But now they're totally buds. They love playing chase around the house together. It's pretty funny because Whiskers is so much faster than Buddy. Sometimes they'll even cuddle up together and take naps! How adorable is that?My chores include brushing Buddy's fur to keep him from getting knots and giving both of them baths when they get stinky. I also have to play with them a lot so they don't get bored or lonely when I'm at school. It's a lot of work, but I don't mind at all because I love my furry friends so much!Pets bring so much joy, companionship, and fun into our lives. I honestly can't imagine life without Buddy and Whiskers! They make me laugh every single day with their silly antics. Having pets has also taught me so many valuable lessons about responsibility, empathy, and unconditional love.I'm so grateful to have Buddy and Whiskers as my best pals. They're more than just pets to me - they're family. I'll always cherish the special bond I have with my furry friends! Thanks for letting me tell you all about them. Pets are simply the best, aren't they?篇2My Favorite Furry FriendsHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 9 years old. Today I want to tell you all about the most awesome pets a kid could ask for - my dogs Rufus and Daisy! Having pets is the best thing ever. They make me sooo happy and I love them with all my heart.Let me start by telling you about Rufus. He's a big golden retriever with long, soft fur that's the color of honey. Rufus is 5 years old, which makes him a middle-aged dog. Even though he's getting up there in years, he still has tons of energy and loves to play fetch and go for runs with me in the park. Rufus issuper friendly and his tail never stops wagging. Whenever I get home from school, he jumps up and gives me a million doggy kisses. It's like he's saying "I missed you so much!" I missed him too, of course! My other dog Daisy is a tiny little Yorkshire terrier. She's 3 years old and a bundle of pure fluff and energy. Daisy's fur is a beautiful silvery-grey color and she's honestly the cutest, most adorable thing you've ever seen. Don't let her small size fool you though - Daisy has a huge personality! She's really spunky and brave. Daisy loves to chase after squirrels in the backyard and bark at birds. I have to be careful she doesn't run away when I take her for walks because she gets so excited. Sometimes I put her in a little doggy bag that I can carry so she doesn't get lost. How cute is that? Both Rufus and Daisy are super well-behaved and trained. They know basic commands like sit, stay, come, and paw. We're working on more tricks too like roll over, shake, and high five. It's so much fun teaching them new things! My dogs are really smart and pick everything up so fast. I have to brag that I'm an excellent dog trainer. Maybe I'll be one when I grow up so I can play with puppies all day! When we go on vacations, Rufus and Daisy stay at a dog hotel which is kind of like a kennel but way fancier. They have their own little room with a cozy bed and even a TV! The people who work there take them for walks, give them treats and playtime, and make sure they're happy and comfortable. I always miss my pups when we're gone but I know they're being super well taken care of.Sometimes pets can be a handful, like when they chew up your favorite stuffed animal or have an accident on the carpet. But you know what? The love and joy they bring makes every messy moment worth it. Rufus and Daisy are my very best friends in the whole world. I can't imagine life without their unconditional love and cuddles. Having a pet teaches you so many responsibilities too like compassion, patience, and caring for another living being. If you're lucky enough to have a dog or cat of your own, cherish them with all your heart. And if you don't have a pet yet, I hope your parents let you get one soon because it's the most incredible experience! Just look at these pictures of my sweet babies - how could you not fall in love? Thanks for reading about my favorite furry friends. I better go now because I think I hear them barking for a walk. Bye!篇3My Best Friend BuddyHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 8 years old. I love animals more than anything in the whole wide world. Today I'm going to tell you all about my very best friend, Buddy the dog.Buddy is a golden retriever and he's 5 years old. We got him from an animal shelter when he was just a little puppy. I remember the day we went to pick him up like it was yesterday. There were so many cute little furballs running around, yapping and playing. But the second I locked eyes with Buddy, I knew he was the one for me.He was the most adorable thing, with the fluffiest golden fur and the biggest, happiest puppy dog eyes you've ever seen. As soon as I picked him up and cuddled him, he gave me a huge lick right across the cheek. My heart melted into a giant puddle right then and there! I begged my parents to take him home and luckily they said yes. From that day on, Buddy has been my very best friend in the entire universe. We do everything together. In the mornings, he wakes me up by hopping onto my bed and licking my face over and over until I get up. Then I take him out for his morning walkand potty break. Watching him get all excited and run around at the park is just the cutest thing. After that, we head back home for breakfast. Buddy gets his yummy dog food while I eat my cereal and fruit. If I'm a really good girl and eat all my food without any fussing, sometimes my mom lets me give Buddy a little piece of my banana as a treat. He goes totally bonkers over bananas!Once we're all fueled up, it's time for Buddy and me to play together all day long. We have the best games of fetch andtug-of-war in the backyard. I'll toss his favorite squeaky tennis ball as far as I can, and Buddy will bolt after it at full speed, looking like a furry lightning bolt! When he brings it back to me and drops it at my feet, his tail is just wagging a million miles a minute. I give him a huge hug and shower him with kisses as a reward. In the afternoons when it's too hot to play outside, Buddy and I snuggle up together on the couch. I'll read him stories from my favorite books, or we'll watch movies and cartoons on TV. He's a great listener and never complains when I want to watch something he's already seen a million times before. My favorite time is when we have sleepovers in my room. Mom lets Buddy sleep on a big comfy dog bed right next to me. Ifall asleep every night cuddling him and burying my face in his soft fur. He always makes me feel so safe, loved and happy.Buddy is so much more than just a pet to me. He's my best friend, my protector, my playmate, my snuggle buddy. I tell him everything and anything – all my deepest hopes, fears, secrets and dreams. Even though he can't talk back, I know he's listening with those big floppy ears of his. His warm, calming presence alone is enough to make me feel better whenever I'm sad or upset about something.I don't know what I'd do without Buddy. Dogs really are a kid's best friend! He brings me more joy, laughter and unconditional love than I could have ever imagined. From fetching balls to cuddling on the couch to our nightly sleepovers, every second I spend with Buddy is an adventure and the best time of my life.If you don't have a pet yet, I super duper highly recommend getting one, especially a dog! They'll always be loyally by your side, no matter what. Pets make the world a happier and brighter place. I can't wait to introduce you to Buddy one day so you can see just how amazing and special he truly is. Okay, that's all for now! Woof woof!篇4My PetsHi there! My name is Emily and I'm 9 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my amazing pets. I just love animals so much! Right now I have two cats named Mittens and Socks, a dog called Buddy, and a guinea pig called Nibbles. They are the best friends a kid could ask for.Let me start by telling you about my cats. Mittens is an orange tabby and she's 5 years old. She loves laying in the sun and getting pet, but she can also be really playful and silly sometimes. My favorite game to play with her is dangling a cat toy on a string and watching her jump up and try to catch it. It's so funny when she leaps up in the air! Socks is a tuxedo cat who is 3 years old. She's a little shyer than Mittens, but once she gets to know you she is a total cuddlebug. Socks makes the funniest little meow sounds. Sometimes it almost sounds like she's trying to talk to me! I love brushing my cats and they seem to like it too because they always start purring. Purring is one of my favorite cat sounds. Now let me tell you about Buddy. He's a golden retriever and he just turned 2 years old last month. We had a big party forhim with doggy treats and new toys. Buddy has so much energy and loves to play fetch and go for runs with my dad. He's really smart too and knows lots of tricks like sit, stay, shake, and roll over. I taught him some of those myself! Whenever I get home from school, Buddy comes running up wagging his tail like crazy to greet me. It always makes me so happy. My favorite thing is cuddling up with him on the couch. His fur is so soft and he's like a big teddy bear. I have to be careful though because he doesn't know his own strength sometimes and his wagging tail can really pack a punch if you're not paying attention!Last but not least is my cute little guinea pig Nibbles. I got her for my 8th birthday and she's almost a year old now. Guinea pigs are pretty easy pets to take care of, but they are also a big responsibility. I have to make sure to give Nibbles fresh food and water every day, and clean out her cage once a week. It's hard work but totally worth it! Nibbles loves munching on fruits and veggies. Her favorites are carrots and green peppers. Sometimes I'll give her a tiny piece of my apple as a special treat. She makes the funniest squeaking sounds, especially when she gets excited to see me coming with food. I like to build little haunted houses and tunnels for her using cardboard boxes and paper towel tubes. It's so fun watching her scamper around and explore her new structures. Guinea pigs are just the cutest! As you can probably tell, I absolutely adore all my pets. They bring me so much joy and companionship. Having pets has taught me a lot about being a caring and responsible person too.I have to make sure all their needs are met and give them plenty of love and attention. I think every kid should have a pet if possible. You'll never have a better friend! Pets are just the best.So that's the scoop on my amazing pets Mittens, Socks, Buddy, and Nibbles. Thanks for reading all about them! Hopefully someday you can have some great pets of your own. They really do make life so much fun. Catch you later!篇5My Favorite Furry FriendsHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 9 years old. Today I want to tell you all about the amazing pets I have at home. I just love animals so much! They always put a huge smile on my face.First up is my dog Cooper. He's a golden retriever and the sweetest, most loving pup you'll ever meet. We got Cooper from a nice family a few towns over when he was just a tiny little puppy. I remember the day we brought him home like it was yesterday. As soon as we opened the door, he came bounding in,sniffing everything with his cute little nose. His tail was wagging a million miles per hour!Cooper is my very篇6Pets Are The Best Friends Ever!Hi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 10 years old. Today, I want to tell you all about pets because they are just the coolest things ever. I have two pets of my own – a dog named Rufus and a cat named Mittens. They are my very best furry friends in the whole wide world!First, let me tell you about Rufus. He's a big golden retriever and he's so cute and fluffy. Rufus loves to play fetch and go for walks in the park. Whenever I get home from school, he gets super excited and jumps up to give me kisses. It's like he's saying "I missed you!" Rufus is really smart too. My dad taught him lots of tricks like rolling over, shaking hands, and even playing dead! Sometimes Rufus pretends to be dead and then suddenly pops up which makes me laugh so hard. He's definitely a goofy and fun dog.Now let me tell you about my kitty, Mittens. She's a beautiful long-haired cat who is gray and white. Mittens acts very proper and likes to groom herself to look purrfect. But she can also be really silly sometimes! She loves to chase laser pointers around the house and play with her toy mice. Sometimes she even brings her toy mice to my bed as a "gift" for me. Isn't that sweet? Mittens is a great cuddler too. She'll snuggle up next to me when I'm reading books or watching movies. I just love petting her soft fur.Having pets is the best because they make me so happy. When I'm feeling sad or upset, Rufus and Mittens always cheer me up. They're great listeners when I want to talk about my day too. I tell them all my secrets and they never judge me. Pets don't care if you get bad grades or have a fight with your friends. They'll always love you no matter what!Taking care of pets does require some responsibility though. Every morning before school, I have to feed Rufus and Mittens and make sure they have fresh water. I also help out by brushing them, giving them baths, and cleaning out their litter box (that's the smelly part!). But it's all worth it because pets give you so much love and fun in return. If you don't already have a pet, I think you should totally ask your parents to get one. You could get a dog, cat, bunny, hamster, fish, bird, or even a turtle! Just make sure you're ready to take care of it properly. Pets need food, shelter, exercise, vet check-ups, and most importantly - your love and attention. If you have enough time and responsibility for a pet, I promise it will be one of the best decisions you ever make. A pet will be your buddy for life!I've had the best time growing up with Rufus and Mittens. We've made so many amazing memories together like celebrating birthdays, going on vacations, and just playing every single day. I can't even imagine my life without my furry best friends. Pets teach you about caring for others, dealing with loss one day, and just appreciating all the happy moments while you can. I'm so lucky to be a pet owner!Well, that's all I have to say about why pets are the best. Whether you get a big dog or tiny hamster, I know you'll have a blast. Pets can make you laugh with their silliness and their cuddles will warm your heart. Just make sure you give them plenty of love, attention, and treats (but not too many!). Having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences for a kid like me.Maybe you'll be as lucky as me and find your new best friend soon!。

You may include the following points:1. Discuss the negative effects of too much homework on children.2. Discuss the disadvantages of the present exam-orient ed education system.3. Call for efforts to ease students' burden and help t hem lead a colorful and enjoyable life.「参考文」Too much homework has become a common complaint in high schools and elementary schools. Students have to spend mos t of their time doing homework, even on weekends. As a resu lt, they have no time for their hobbies, or for their parents or friends. All they do is what they have to do, not wha t they like to do.The underlying cause for this phenomenon lies in the pr esent exam-oriented education system. National College Entr ance Examination has become the sole focus of teachers, par ents, and students themselves. High score becomes the ultim ate goal, to the neglect of practical abilities, personalit y development, and all that.It is urgent that we deepen our educational reform. We must allow for students' overall development, not just eval uate their test scores.(2). company is recruiting new employees. Write a letter apply ing for a position as an assistant accountant. In your lett er, please include the following information:1. the position you apply for;2. your work experience;3. the reason for your leaving the present company;4. the treatment you expect to get from the new compan y.You should write no less than 120 words. Do not sign yo ur name at the end of your letter. Use "Wang Lin" instead. You do not need to write the address.「参考文」Dear sir:I wish to apply for a position with your company as an assistant accountant. I am twenty-six years old and at pres ent employed by the Island Company, where I have been for t he past two years. Formerly I was employed by Global Export Co., where it was nearly three years. My only reason for leaving either of these positions wo uld be to better myself and I feel there is no future oppor tunity in my present position. I wish to serve in a large c ompany like yours, to provide me with ample opportunities t o learn new things.I can give you references from both these firms as to m y character and ability as an accountant. My present salaryis $2,600 a month and I would not care to accept less in a nother position, but I am willing to start at the same sala ry, provided there is an opportunity for advancement. Yours faithfully, Wang Lin(3)According to some surveys done by the Ministry of Education, there are about 153 million illiterates and semi-illiterat es in China. Its illiteracy rate in the western region is m uch higher than the country's average level and it is as hi gh as 40 percent. The rate for the country's whole populati on stands at 14 percent. Write an essay of about 120 words, stating your opinion about this issue now confronting Chin a.「参考文」The task of educating a huge population can be challeng ing to any country. Though China has shown great concern an d done much in education, and in eliminating illiteracy, it still has 153 million illiterate and semi-illiterate citiz ens, according to some statistics issued by the Ministry of Education. So, in my opinion, raising China's education level, to a large extent, depends on greater educational achi evement in its vast western region and some other backward areas. In the past decade, China has moved to combat illiterac y and promote nine years of compulsory schooling, especiall y in poor areas and areas inhabited by minorities, and has achieved a great success, but it seems a difficult task in regions where educational opportunities are limited. Howeve r, we should set a target that, by 2010, nine-year compulso ry schooling should be realized and the illiteracy rate amo ng young and middle-aged adults should be reduced to the mi nimum. Only in this way can China raise its national educat ional level.(4) WritingAn article in a newspaper once said: "As China strives to develop its western area, some effective measures should be taken to improve forestry in the region." Write an essa y of about 120 words, stating what effective measures shoul d be adopted to improve forestry in the western area.「参考文」Over the past 10 years, China has made much headway in its afforestation and soil conservation. For instance, the national forest acreage has increased by 13.7 million hecta res since the fourth national survey on forest resources in 1990. Despite these great achievements, some serious probl ems still remain to be solved such as how to improve forest ry in the western area in the course of its economic develo pment.Forestry build-up in the west is a long-term task. In o rder to have this goal materialized, I think some concrete and effective measures should be taken immediately. For exa mple, to protect the natural environment of the west, some previously cultivated areas should be returned to forest an d grassland. In the course of improving forestry, some stri ct laws should made and their enforcement must be guarantee d. Those who violate forest protection laws must be severel y punished. Only by taking these effective measures can for estry in the western area be improved.(5) As is known to all, computers are becoming more and mo re popular in our daily life nowadays, especially in education. Write a short essay of about 120 words, describing how important computers are in education.「参考文」It has turned out that computers have become quite indi spensable to education. With computers, students can do the ir homework more quickly and more efficiently; with compute rs, teachers can reduce their work load and improve their t eaching. For instance, computers can free teachers from cer tain kinds of time-consuming bookkeeping; help teachers "ba nk" test items, thus greatly reducing the time required to produce a new test, and mark test papers. More importantly, they can analyze test results, indicating to the teacher w hich points may need further treatment in class. They can a lso make it possible for a teacher in the classroom to give individual attention to students who are having trouble in their studies. While the rest of a class is working on an educational program, the teacher can take the time to work directly with a student who is falling behind. So it goes w ithout saying that computers are extremely important in edu cation at all levels.(6) Below is a bar graph showing the causes of fire in a city. T he key measure is to educate people to be careful to make fires, warn the children of the danger of playing with match es. Write an essay of about 120 words making references to the foll owing points:1) describe the percentage of different kinds of water supply of the world;2) analyze the current situation of fresh water on eart h;3) give the possible reasons for this situation.「参考文」Water is a precious resource. Although we are surrounde d by it in oceans, lakes, rivers and streams, our supply is limited. The chart given shows that most of the water on e arth — 97.4 percent — is salt water stored in oceans. Onl y 2.6 percent of the earth's water is fresh water, and 2 pe rcent is locked up in ice caps and glaciers. Thus the fresh water left for us to use is only 0.6 percent of the total water supply. There will never be any more fresh water than there is now. In fact, the earth is short of fresh water. Besides, t he increasing growth of the world population, the growing d emand of industry for water, the serious pollution of our e nvironment — all this makes the world in danger of running out of fresh water. In some large cities such as Tianjin, fresh water cannot meet the daily needs.Since water is essential to all life and the supply lim ited, we must manage it intelligently and carefully.(10) According to some surveys done by the Ministry of Edu cation, there are about 153 million illiterates and semi-il literates in China. Its illiteracy rate in the western regi on is much higher than the country's average level and it is as high as 40 percent. The rate for the country's whole p opulation stands at 14 percent. Write an essay of about 120 words, stating your opinion about this issue now confronti ng China.「参考文」The task of educating a huge population can be challeng ing to any country. Though China has shown great concern an d done much in education, and in eliminating illiteracy, it still has 153 million illiterate and semi-illiterate citiz ens, according to some statistics issued by the Ministry of Education. So, in my opinion, raising China's education le vel, to a large extent, depends on greater educational achi evement in its vast western region and some other backward areas. In the past decade, China has moved to combat illiterac y and promote nine years of compulsory schooling, especiall y in poor areas and areas inhabited by minorities, and has achieved a great success, but it seems a difficult task in regions where educational opportunities are limited. Howeve r, we should set a target that, by 2010, nine-year compulso ry schooling should be realized and the illiteracy rate among young and middle-aged adults should be reduced to the mi nimum. Only in this way can China raise its national educat ional level.WritingAn article in a newspaper once said: "As China strives to develop its western area, some effective measures should be taken to improve forestry in the region." Write an essa y of about 120 words, stating what effective measures shoul d be adopted to improve forestry in the western area.「参考文」Over the past 10 years, China has made much headway in its afforestation and soil conservation. In o rder to have this goal materialized, I think some concreteand effective measures should be taken immediately. For exa mple, to protect the natural environment of the west, some previously cultivated areas should be returned to forest an d grassland. In the course of improving forestry, some stri ct laws should made and their enforcement must be guarantee d. Those who violate forest protection laws must be severel y punished. Only by taking these effective measures can for estry in the western area be improved.(11) A company is recruiting new employees. Write a letter applying for a position as an assistant accountant. Students have to spend mos t of their time doing homework, even on weekends. As a resu lt, they have no time for their hobbies, or for their paren ts or friends. All they do is what they have to do, not wha t they like to do.The underlying cause for this phenomenon lies in the pr esent exam-oriented education system. National College Entr ance Examination has become the sole focus of teachers, parents, and students themselves. High score becomes the ultim ate goal, to the neglect of practical abilities, personalit y development, and all that.It is urgent that we deepen our educational reform. We must allow for students' overall development, not just eval uate their test scores.。

A nationally representative sample was randomly surveyed by telephone. In the case of teens, a portion of the sample was interviewed at mails across the country. The sample interviewed consisted of 400 adults who had purchased a children's book within the past three months and 100 teen book buyers in two age categories, younger teen (ages 12-14)and older teens(ages 15-17) ,who had bought a book in the past three months.Of the adult sample, 62%of the children's book purchasers were female, 38% male. The sample covered a full range of age groups; 22% were 18-19 years old, 28% were 30-44 years old and 50% were 45 years old and older. Most were married (79%); 21% were single, divorced or widowed. The teen sample included 53 girls and 47 boys. Fifty-seven were in the 12-14 age range, 43 in the 15-17 age range. Twenty-four teens were interviewed by telephone and 76 were interviewed in shopping malls across the country. To shed some light on the children's and teen book market, PW and BookExpo America examined consumer trends among children's and teenage book buyers. The survey evaluated what kinds of children's and teenage books consumers choose, how they choose them and where they go to buy them. The findings paint a positive picture of America's younger generations of readers and point optimistically toward a future country of book lovers.Judging from responses, adults who buy children's books believe that books play an important role in a child's development. Consequently, the majority children's book buyers take seriously the process of choosing books for children. For their part, teens feel that "reading is cool" and "makes you smarter". An analysis of these attitudes and an examination of the book-buying habits of children's and teen book consumers could be useful in helping publishers, promoters and booksellers provide more appealing products and services.21. Therefore, the great influence of parents cannot be ignored or discounted by the teacher. They can become strong allies of school personnel or they can consciously or unconsciously hinder and thwart curricula objectives.Administrators have been aware of the need to keep parents apprised of the newer methods used in Schools. Many principals have conducted workshops explaining such matters as reading readiness programs, manuscript writing, and developmental mathematics. Moreover, the classroom teacher, with the permission of the supervisors, can also play an important role in enlightening parents. The many interviews carried on during the year as well as new ways of reporting pupils' progress, can significantly aid in achieving a harmonious interplay between school and home.To illustrate, suppose that a father has been drilling Junior in arithmetic processes night after night. In a friendly interview, the teacher can help the parent sublimate his natural parental interest into productive channels. He might be persuaded to let Junior participate in discussing the family budget, buying the food, using a yardstick or measuring cup at home, setting the clock, calculating mileage on a trip, and engaging in scores of other activities that have a mathematical basis. If the father follows the advice, it is reasonable to assume that he will soon realize his son is making satisfactory progress in mathematics and, at the same time, enjoying the work.Too often, however, teachers' conferences with parents are devoted to petty accounts of children's misdemeanors, complaints about laziness and poor work habits, and suggestions for penalties and rewards at home. What is needed is a more creative approach in which the teacher, as a professional adviser, plants ideas in parents' minds for the best utilization of the many hours that the child spends out of the classroom. In this way, the school and the home join forces in fostering the fullest development of youngsters' capacities.26. What's the main idea of this passage?A. Home training is more important than school training.B. Parents should spend more time with their children.C. Teachers should help parents to exert their influence.D. Children's potential is great.27. The word "discount" (Line 3, Paral) is nearest in meaning to______.A. noticeB. viewC. underestimateD. omit28. What should be done to help parents to understand and further the objectives of the school?A. The teacher should keep in touch with parents.B. The teacher should tell parents their children's **ings.C. The teacher should make a curricula objectives for parents.D. The teacher should make good friends with parents.29. By "arithmetic processes" (P. 4) the author mean______.A. conclusionB. mathC. physicsD. guess30. It can be inferred that the author is ______ with the present parent-teacher interviews.A. satisfiedB. pleasedC. negativeD. not satisfiedText 3Shyness is the cause of much unhappiness for a great many people. Shy people are anxious and self-conscious; that is, they are excessively concerned with their own appearance and actions. Worrisome thoughts are constantly occurring in their minds: What kind of impression am I making? Do they like me? Do I sound stupid? Am I wearing unattractive clothes? It is obvious that such uncomfortable feelings must affect people adversely. A person's self-concept is reflected in the way he or she behaves, and the way a person behaves affects other people's reactions. In general, the way people think about themselves has a profound effect on all the areas of their lives.Shy people, having low self-esteem, are likely to be passive and easily influenced by others. They need reassurance that they are doing "the right thing". Shy people are very sensitive to criticism; that they feel it confirms their inferiority. They also find it difficult to be pleased by compliments because they believe they are unworthy of praise. A shy person may respond to a compliment with a statement like this one: "You're just saying that to make me feel good. I know it's not true. "It is clear that, while self-awareness is a healthy quality, overdoing it is harmful. Can shyness be completely eliminated, or at least reduced? Fortunately, people can **e shyness with determined and patient efforts in building self-confidence. Since shyness goes hand in hand with lack of self-esteem, it is important for people to accept their weaknesses as well as their strengths. For example, most people would like to be "A" students in every subject. It is not fair for them to label themselves inferior because they have difficulty in some areas. People's expectations of themselves must be realistic. Living on the impossible leads to a sense of inadequacy. Each one of us is a unique, worthwhile individual. We are interested in our own personal ways. The better we understand ourselves, the easier it becomes to live up to our full potential. Let's notallow shyness to block our chances for a rich and fulfilling life.31. Which of the following best summarizes the main idea of the first paragraph?A. The effect of shyness on people.B. For questions 61 to 65, match the name of each speaker to one of the statements (A to G) given below. Mark your answers on your ANSWER SECTION ⅠJohn McEnroe:I have been using the Internet since the late 80's when the Internet was called ARPANET and this is the first year I actually did some Christmas shopping on the Internet. I could not find several items for my child's Christmas gifts so I decided to look online. Normally when I shop in real stores I go in, find what I want and get out (my wife hates this because she wants to look at EVERYTHING). The Internet allows you to go shopping without any fuss or having to wait in line.John Starks:You never know if they are chatting with a kidnapping pervert, seeing pornography, downloading illegal files or viruses and other bad software. Of course I have Net Nanny installed on my child's computer, it isn't perfect but it is a good piece of software and with a little tweaking blocks 99.8% of harmful content. We do not allow our child to use Instant Messaging or other programs.Ibrahim Ba:There also several devious online advertisers that use software to force you to see what they want you to see, the software is often hidden in a download or "free" software. I wrote an article on this several months ago. It has some great information on how to protect yourself from these malicious **panies and how to find out if something is installed on **puter and what to do to get rid of it. If only congress would enact tough anti-spam laws and laws to protect the consumer from malicious **panies who install software on **puter and make changes to your property (computer) without your permission.Elena Piskun:The article goes on to say that the Internet is also causing us to sleep less (by 8.5 minutes) and that it reduces contact with family members by 23.5 minutes per day. The researchers acknowledged that they cannot answer the question of whether or not it strengthens or weakens social relationships. That's been a burning question since the rise of the Internet, and many tons of paper was wasted in the mid and late nineties to print handwriting articles about how the Internet would probably turn us all into introverted, pale-faced geeks sitting in our basements in the dark night after night, hanging out in seedy chat rooms.Ivan Ivankov:Ten years later, we've gone from a tiny number of people who had Internet access back then to 75% of the country—that's the fastest diffusion of a new technology ever. We're on to something here, and I believe it's mostly for the good. We're more aware of world events, better informed on local, national, and international issues, have more control over our time, and have all kinds of new business and work opportunities available to us.Now match each of the persons (61 to 65) to the appropriate statement.Note: there are two extra statements.Statements[A] We can listen to music, watch movies, and read books online.[B] Viruses and malicious software that affect our home and **puters.[C] Parents often worry about their children being on the Internet unsupervised.[D] The Internet allows you shop from home without leaving your chair.[E] Whether or not the Internet is causing us to sleep less or it reduces contact with family members is inconclusive.[F] The Internet can provide consumer information on products you are thinking of buying.[G] The Internet can provide various information and opportunities for us.36. John McEnroe37. John Starks38. Ibrahim Ba39. Elena Piskun40. Ivan IvankovSection Ⅳ WritingYou should write your responses to both Part A and Part B of this section on ANSWER SHEET 2.Part A41. You have moved the belongings of Mr. Smith in the parking garage without his permission, and you want to make a letter of apology for it, giving all the details about it. You should writeapproximately 100 words. Do not sign your own name at the end of your letter. Use "Wang Lin" instead. You do not need to write the address.42. A popular saying goes, "Time is money." Write an essay of approximately 120 words giving **ment on it.。

2021年公共英语(pets3)三级习题及答案(卷三)

2021年公共英语(pets3)三级习题及答案(卷三)

2021年公共英语(pets3)三级习题及答案(卷三)Children growing up in the UK today face a plethora of societal pressures and challenges. Our young people are some of the most overweight in Europe, are recording increasing levels of mental health issues, and are more likely to live a shorter life than their parents. They're also less likely to lead a financially stable life.Last Wednesday the leaders of the Labour, Scottish National, Lib Dem and Green parties sent a letter to the prime minister, calling for "a comprehensive strategy to tackle childhood obesityn. It included 13 recommendations, but there were two glaring omissions from the list: the role of physical activity, and improving mental health and wellbeing ——a decision I find deeply disheartening(令人沮丧的)in a u compre-hensivestrategy.I recognise the positive impact that many of the recommendations could have, such as banning free offers for junk food and restrictions on advertising, and using tax incentives(税收激励政策)to make healthy food cheaper. But you cannot have a comprehensive strategy that looks only at diet, and ignores wider factors such as physical activity and mental health. This August will mark the two-year anniversary of the government's childhood obesity plan, which was an opportunity to put children's health at the heart of policymaking and practice. But by focusing oncalories in and calories out are we missing the bigger picture? Children are seldom the main decision-maker on the factors in their life that promote weight gain ; they rarely choose what they eat ( at home or at school) ; their activity levels are often subject to the depth of a parent's purse ; and they largely exist in educational settings that are forced to place more emphasis on standardised testing than on health and wellbeing. At ukactive, we champion the physical, mental and social benefits that come from an active, healthy life. I have seen first hand the vital role that the physical activity sector has in helping to tackle childhood obesity. But we also recognise that our sector cannot achieve its ambitions for a healthier Britain alone. We must seek consensus across all political parties that obesity is a complex disease for which no single cause or cure exists. It's never been clearer that we need to develop a cross-party strategy that drives an integrated approach to this fundamental issue. The diet and physical activity agendas are of equal importance, and both sectors have to work together. To shun a collaborative, holistic approach would be to jeopardise the future health and prosperity of the UK.1. The health problems of the young people in the UK will lead to .A) various psychiatric disordersB) weight loss and increased energyC) shorter life expectancyD) more expenditure2. According to the author, what did the comprehensivestrategy miss?A) Forbidding junk food.B) Promoting physical exercise and mental health.C) Controlling food advertising.D) Making the healthy food cheaper.3. Which of the following can be inferred from Paragraph 4?A) Parents need to help the children calculate the specific calories needed for each day.B) Children should decide what and how much they eat by themselves.C) Most children focuses more on their academic achievementsD) The overweight children are less willing to do physical activities.4. By citing the example of ukactive, the author aims to .A) warn the public of the consequences of obesityB) remind the parents of the urgency of solving their children's health problemsC) appeal to the government to make effective laws and regulationsD) help people recognize the importance of physical activity5. According to Paragraph 6, which of the following does the authorsupport?A) It is impossible for Britain to learn from the practice of ukactive.B) Diet and physical activity should be combined to deal with obesity.C) There is no simple cure for obesity considering its complex causes and contributing factors.D) The government should shoulder more responsibility to solve the problem of obesity.参考答案:当今,在英国长大的孩子要面临很多的社会压力和挑战。

Monologue“If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.” America has never forgotten Benjamin Franklin because he did both. He became famous for being a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. Today, we honor Ben Franklin as one of our Founding Fathers and as one of America’s greatest citizens. He was born in 1706 in Boston,Massachusetts,His mother and father were of Puritan religion. They left England and moved to the English colony of Massachusetts to escape persecution for their religion.Franklin left school when he was ten and worked for his father for two years. Then he went to work on his brother’s newspaper. He became the editor of this paper when he was sixteen. He went to Philadelphia then and bought his own newspaper. He worked hard and by the age of 24 he was one of the most successful men there. In 1732 franklin published a book “Poor Richard’s Almanac”. Most almanacs contained information for farmers, such as information about the days and weeks of the year and about the weather. To his almanac, Franklin added wise sayings of observations about life; some of these sayings are still famous today. For example, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”And “Waste not, want not,” and “ A penny saved is a penny earned.”Ambulance GirlWhen I became a volunteer EMT, my friends were puzzled. They knew me to be deeply terrified of sick and dying people. If there was an accident on the road, I tucked my head in my hands to avoid seeing blood or broken glass. My husband and I had been married 30 years. We loved to travel, read and write. But at age 52, I felt stuck in a midlife funk, cut off from others. Passing the local firehouse one day, I saw a sign: “V olunteers wanted: Fire/EMT.”The EMT part pointed to everything cowardly in me-my fear of death and disease. Maybe I could help others if I did this and could also save myself by facing what scared me most.As time goes by, I was able to work through my fears. Now I understand that the closest I have ever felt to God is in the back of an ambulance. When I rush out to help sick strangers, I am part of something larger than myself. Sometimes I truly connect with someone who I would never have met otherwise-as I did with Nellie. One midnight, the AIDS hospice needed help. A colleague and I were shown to a bedroom. Lying there was a thin black woman with wild hair. When I was given a printout of her medical history, I thought., this lady should be dead over ten times. She had AIDS, hepatitis and TB. She had brain surgery. Tonight she had a seizure.“Hello, I’m Clarissa, are you in pain?” I asked. She replied by cursing at me. I didn’t take offense. When I rode alone with her in the back of the ambulance as another EMT drove, I reread the printout. Nellie was 33 years old. No previous address. No family members. No next of kin. Her whole life as presented here was just a list of medicines, symptoms and illnesses. One line caught my attention: Hobbies. Nellie’s hobbies were sewing and gospel singing. I could not sew, but I loved gospel music.“Nellie, it says here that you like gospel music,”I asked. I expected another curse, but it didn’t come. “I really like Shirley Caesar,” I continued, thinking of the singer’s heartbreaking songabout a mother’s love for her ungrateful son, pouring her soul into every word.Suddenly Nellie’s eyes moved back and forth. “I like her too,”Nellie said weakly. I was stunned she could speak. I started naming other gospel singers. With each one, Nellie nodded back, and I saw her try to smile. I was not a singer, but I decided to pretend that I was. It was not unthinkable that Nellie might die during this ride to the hospital, that I would be the last face she ever saw, the last voice she ever heard. I wanted to say something meaningful to her, something other than “Where does it hurt?” So I started singing, and I held Nellie’s hand as I sang.We reached the hospital, and she was wheeled to one of the ER rooms. I touched her thin shoulder. “Nellie,”I said. She fixed her eyes on me. “Take care of yourself.”She gave me one long last look, and then turned her face to the wall. When I climbed back into the ambulance, there was no more trace of Nellie. The driver had cleaned and sanitized everything. “Let’s go,” I told him. As the ambulance pulled out, I felt like crying. But my eyes remained dry, like Nellie’s. Hobbies: sewing and gospel music, I thought as we glided in the darkness of the night toward home.Supplementary ReadingMister ImaginationThere were very few places in the world that Jules V erne, the writer, did not visit. He went round the world a hundred times or more. Once he did it in eighty days, unheard of in the nineteenth century. He voyaged sixty thousand miles under the sea, toured around the moon, explored the center of the earth, and chatted with natives in Australia.Jules V erne, the man, was a stay-at-home. He was more likely to be tired from writing than from traveling. He did make a few visits to Europe and North Africa. And he made one six-week tour of New Y ork State. But that was all. He spent less than one of his seventy-seven years really traveling. Y et he was the world’s most extraordinary tourist. His books are crowded with hunting and fishing expeditions. Jules actually went hunting only once. Then he raised his gun and shot off the guard’s hat!He never held a test tube in his hand. But he was an inspiration to the scientist in the laboratory. Long before radio was invented, he had TV working in his books. His name for it was phono-telephoto. He had helicopters fifty years before the Wright brothers flew their first plane at Kitty Hawk. In fact, there were few wonders of the twentieth century that this man of the nineteenth century did not foresee. In his stories you can read about neon lights, moving sidewalks, air-conditioners, sky-scrapers, guided missiles, tanks, electrically operated submarines, and air-planes.Many people took his ideas seriously. One reason was that he wrote about these wonderful things in such exact details. Learned men would argue with him. Experts in mathematics would spend weeks checking his figures. When his book about going to the moon was published, five hundred persons volunteered for the next expedition.Perhaps the best known of all his books is Around the World in Eighty Days. It first appeared as a serial in a Paris newspaper. Its hero had made a bet that he could circle the globe in eighty days, and his progress aroused great interest.也许最有名的,他所有的书都是在八十天内环游世界。

Dog owners, in particular, benefit from regular walks and playtime with their furry friends. This not only promotes a healthier lifestyle for the owner but also helps to strengthen the bond between pet and owner. Additionally, pets can encourage children to be more active and spend time outdoors, which is crucial for their physical and mental development.Furthermore, pets can teach valuable life lessons, especially to children. Taking care of a pet requires responsibility, patience, and compassion. Children learn to feed, groom, and care for their pets, developing a sense of empathy and understanding. They also learn about the life cycle, as pets may eventually pass away, teaching them about loss and coping with grief.Pets can also improve mental health and well-being. The act of petting a dog or cat releases endorphins, which can boost mood and reduce anxiety. Pets provide a sense of purpose and routine, especially for the elderly or those living alone. The presence of a pet can provide a sense of security and comfort, particularly during times of stress or uncertainty. In addition to the emotional and mental benefits, pets can also have a positive impact on physical health. Studies have shown that pet owners have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, as owning a pet can lead to lower blood pressure and cholesterollevels. Pets can also help to strengthen the immune system, especially in children who grow up with pets and are exposed to different bacteria and allergens from an early age.Lastly, pets can provide a sense of unconditional love and companionship. They offer a listening ear and a comforting presence during difficult times. Pets are always happy to see their owners, no matter the circumstances, and their love is unwavering. This kind of companionship can have a profound impact on mental health, reducing feelings of loneliness and improving overall well-being.In conclusion, pets are much more than just animals. They provide companionship, teach important life lessons, improve mental and physical health, and offer unconditional love and support. Whether it's a dog, a cat, or a smaller pet, owning a pet can have a significant positive impact on a person's life. So, if you're considering getting a pet, remember that it's not just a pet, it's a lifelong companion.。

MonologueOne important cause of the generation gap is the opportunity that young people have to choose their own life-styles. In traditional societies, when children grow up, they are expected to live in the same area as their parents, to marry people that their parents know and approve of, and often to continue the family occupation. In our society, however, young people often travel great distances for their education, move out of the family home at an early age, marry or live with people whom their parents have never met, and choose occupations different from those of their parents. In our upwardly mobile society, parents often expect their children to do better than they did: to find better jobs, to make more money, and to do all the things that they were unable to do. Often, however, the ambitions that parents have for their children are another cause of the division between them. Often, they discover that they have very little in common with each other. Finally, the speed at which changes take place in our society is another cause of the generation gap. In a traditional culture, elderly people are valued for their wisdom, but in our society the knowledge of a lifetime may become obsolete overnight. The young and the old seem to live in two very different worlds, separated by different skills and abilities. No doubt, the generation gap will continue to be a feature of American life for some time to come.
