1. Teaching material

1. To promote the students to think about the effective ways of making a good impression. This unit is intended to explore ways of good communication. After learning it, students are expected to understand present good communication methods in English cultures.

2. Scan the text and understand the structure and useful expressions.

2. Time allocation

1st period: careful explanation of words and expressions

2nd period: understanding the text

3rd period: post-exercises and extensive exercises

3. Teaching aims

Knowledge objects

To study the new words and phrases.

To make the Ss know how to understand the word meaning from the aspects of the text content .

To finish some exercises.

Ability objects

To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, r eading and writing. Focus on ability of speaking .

Moral objects

To enable the Ss to find out how to make good impression .

To encourage the Ss to be themselves and lighten up.

1. Make up a job interview

2. Discuss some ways to make good impression

Analysis:

1. make up one’s mind: make a decision

e.g. I haven’t made up my mind where to go yet.

2. range: vary between certain limits

e.g. Their costs ranged between $40 and $60 a day.
