Activity 1 Fast reading
1.Activity Aim:make Ss have a brief understanding of the passage
2.Teaching Method:students-centered practice
Step 1.Warming up.
Answer the following questions:
1) Can you think of any natural disasters that damage the environment?
2) If you were the speaker, which one do you choose, economy or
environment? Why?
Step 2. Reading strategy ----- reading a debate
1) What is the order of a debate?
2) What is important in a debate?
3) What should we pay attention to when we read or listen to a debate?
Step 3. Fast reading:
Go through the passage as quickly as they can and try to find answers to the
following questions:
1. Who are the three speakers?
2. What side does Mr Lin Shuiqing and Mr Qian Liwei each represent?
3. By how many times has the world’s population increased since 1800?
4. According to Mr Qian liwei,what should be done to factories that pollute the
environment?
