Titles can also be ambiguous because of the use of prepositions. The preposition with, for example, may mean either using or having. Example Tracking long-distance migration of gray whales with geolocators Revised Example Tracking long-distance migration of gray whales using geolocators

Aside from unnecessary words and phrases, articles (a, an, the) at the beginning of the title can be omitted. However, do not omit articles before singular nouns later in the title. 2. What is a good title?
A good title is defined as the fewest possible words that adequately describe the content of the paper. It needs to be clear and concise.

5. What words should I capitalize?
There are basically two ways to capitalize a title. The first is to capitalize each initial letter, apart from articles and prepositions. The other is just to capitalize the first letter of the first word, and then to have all the words in lower case. Check which system is used in your chosen papers.

Most readers will read your abstract only if the title interests them. They will judge the paper’s relevance on the title alone. A good title will attract readers and, more importantly, will attract the appropriate readers.

4. Should I use prepositions?
Most titles of more than about five words require prepositions. The important thing to note is that the use of prepositions helps the reader to understand how the various elements in the title are related to each other.

3. What types of words should I try to include?
Where possible use the –ing form of verbs rather than abstract nouns. This will make your title more readable as well as making it 2-3 words shorter.
