Working and travelling for a year after university final examination has recently est
ablished itself a prominent phenomenon. As for what I think, school grad uates should be encouraged to do that.
First and foremost, it is beneficial for students to have a rest after tiring preparati on for the fierce competition. Based on scientific research, play is critical to one’s future development since it may help nurturing one’s curiosity, perceptibility and re sponsibility. As far as we concern, we all know that “all works and no play make Jack a dull boy.”In this way, alleviating pressure and be relaxed for a period of t ime may contribute to the efficiency of their future studies.
We should also recognize that young graduates are socially inexperienced and th ey have no idea of what they really want in the future. It is occasionally to see th at many college students drop out of school because their majors are not their inte rests, rather their parents’. One year’s reflection can help them get to know whe ther they are ready for the new life, whether they are choosing the major they wan t. Academic approach is not the only way of growing up, only by broadening their horizons can they see if they are psychologically and spiritually for college life.
At the same time, we should be aware of that there are still some drawbacks of the one-year travel and work. The number one risk is that young adults are discip linarian. As long as they do not know how to monitor their time and to put things i n order under a tight schedule, it’s a waste of time and money. For example, so me students may spend time chewing the fat with friends or hanging out all day wi th some bad people. Therefore, it would not be harmful for graduates immediately receiving education.
Admittedly, there are side effects of travelling and working after graduation, b ut, comparatively, the advantages tower over disadvantages since young people ca n broaden their horizons and get prepared for a new life.
