英语中数字翻译的技巧数字的两种基本翻译方法1.保留数字直译要求数字的准确度和清楚度(1)年代的表达Eg: 1980s 二十世纪八十年代(2)长数字的表达Eg：The Chinese News Agency says Chinas population has grown to 1,031,882,511 persons. (数字读作one billion thirty-one million eight hundred eighty-two thousand five hundred and eleven)，数字翻译为10亿3188万2511。
2. 舍弃数字意译对数字进行模糊化处理Eg: I have one hundred and one things to do this morning.今天早上我有很多事情要做。
这里的one hundred and one就做了模糊处理，舍弃了数字意译为"很多'。
Eg: Her face lost color within twenty seconds.她的脸色一下子就变了。
这里的within twenty seconds只是表示时间的短暂，并没有实际的数字意义，因此，只要译为"很快'，"一下子'等表示时间短暂的汉语意义就可以了。

常见商务上英语数字的翻译
常见商务上英语数字的翻译英语中的有些数词在汉译时可以等值翻译。
但是，也有不少数词在汉译中不能等值翻译，或者完全不译出来。
这种翻译处理方法是为了使汉译句子能符合汉语的表达习惯。
以下分别举例说明。

• 注意： • 百万以上的大数字有两种体制，翻译时应特别注 意。美国、法国、苏联及欧洲大多数国家采用的 是大陆制（thousand system), 英国及德国采用的 是英国制（million system)。这两种体制的差别在 于： • billion:大陆制相当于十亿（109） • 英国制相当于1兆（1012) • trillion:大陆制相当于1兆（1012） • 英国制相当于百京(1015) • 因此，遇到这两个词时要查清是大陆制还是英国 制，然后才能译成相应的汉语。
• 此外，也可在采用表示“增加”或“减少” 意义的动词的同时，在数词前采用介词 “by”,这也是表示净增或净减的数值或比例。 例如： • The total value of China’s exports to the US rose by two thirds last year. • 中国出口到美国的商品总值比去年上升了 三分之二。

• 计数中常常会遇到不十分精确的数值，因而在表达中会有许多表示近 似数或大约数的表达方法。请注意下列英语常用近似数表达方式的汉 译： • (一) 采用整数复数的 • teens of... 十几(13~19) • tens of... 数十/几十 • decad. 几十/几打 • scores of... 几十(一般多指四十以上). • hundreds of… 几百/数百/成百上千的 • thousands of… 几千/成千上万的 • tens of thousands of ... 数万/几万 • hundreds of thousands of ... 数十万/几十万 • millions of... 数百万/几百万/千千万万的 • tens of millions of ... 数千万/几千万 • millions and millions of ... 亿万

一、绝对数的译法
英语中表示绝对数或精准数的时候，可用阿拉伯数字或文字 (即数词)表示 • (一)用阿拉伯数字表示的数量 • 在科技英语中，这是最为常用的表示方式，其译法主要有 三种： • 1.原数照抄 • 此时数字往往不很大，通常在六位数及其以下，用以记录 年份、价格、温度、压力、金额、产量、功率、比率、尺 寸、距离等，有时需要添加必要的量词或单位词。用 "n×l0x"表示的特别大的天文数字通常也是照抄。例如： • At (@) -275℃ 在-275℃ • by 2007 到2007年(添加"年"） • 580kW-hr/lb 580千瓦小时/磅 • 38 x 1017 kilometres (km) 38 x 1017千米 • A4 paper is 297X210 mm. A4纸大小为297X210毫米。

英语数词翻译知识
• 英语中的数词和汉语一样，共分为三种:: • (1) 基数词——用以指量计数（one, two, three,...) • (2) 序数词——表示一系列事物的位置或顺 序的先后（first, second, third,…) • (3) 倍数词——表示增加的倍数或减少的分 数（once, twice, twofold, threefold,...) • 数词用法比较灵活，可以作主语、宾语、 定语和状语，翻译时也应根据情况灵活处 理。

三、增减量的译法
• 英语表示表示纯粹数量的增加或减少时，最为常 见的是在表示"增加"或"减少"含义的动词(如 "increase, rise, raise, grow, go up"和"decrease, diminish, fall, reduce, lower, drop, go down"等)后 面采用数词(含分数、百分数等)。例如： • The production of cars in China went up 300 thousand last year.去年中国的汽车产量增加了30 万辆。 • For the 24-hour period following 13:00 December 14, air temperature dropped 7.6 ℃. 在12月14日13 时以后的24小时，气温下降了 7. 6℃
