I .Teaching Aims:

1.The Knowledge Aim：Through learning, make the students listen, speak and read the city,country and continent names and pattern drills in this lesson.

2.The Ability Aim : Through practicing, master the knowledge and use the knowledge to communicate in Lesson 7.

3. The Emotion Aim: Arouse the students’ emotions of loving our country, life and world.

III. Teaching Aids:

The multi-media equipment ,paper sheets for students and a map of the world.

IV. Knowledge of Students:

Students have known some names of the cities, countries and continents in this lesson. Some of them have the ability to talk with the teacher. And they are glad to talk with each other.

V. Teaching Steps:

1. Revision:

1) Talk about the students’ winter holiday.

2) Ask the students where they would like to go in China.

2. Presentation:

1) Make the students know the names of the countries and then learn the new words .

2)Play a game for remembering the new words.

3)Listen and number Part A on Page 14 and then check the answers.

4)Learn the second part of new words.

5)Introduce a city called Barcelona, learn it and then learn to ask and answer in pairs with the drills:

Where would you like to go this winter vacation?

I’d like to go to Barcelona.

Where is it ?

It’s in Spain.

Spain is in Europe.

2)Ask the students to listen to a new dialogue between Lily and Andy, then answer the question. And learn the words : Moscow and Russia. Then practise the dialogue in pairs.

3. Practice and Production:

1 )Make up new dialogues with the pictures in Part B.

2)Choose a favourite city, country and continent line to fill in the form of Part C and say a sentence according to the model.

4. Summing-up:

1)Make the students summarize the words we’ve learned today.

2)Make the students summarize the sentences we’ve practised today. VI. Homework:

1、Talk about the pictures in Part B.(5 minutes)

2、Complete the form in Part C . (5 minutes)
