Should Firecrackers Be Banned?

Different people have different views on setting off firecrackers. Some prefers to set off firecrackers. Others tend to prohibit setting off firecrackers. As to me, I agree with the first opinion.

Of course, the prohibition of setting off firecrackers may avoid some fires and prevent people from fire accidents to some extent. For example, in the period of every Spring Festival fires can occur and cause tremendous damages to the people’s lives and property, owing to setting off firecrackers. But it can not be the reason that setting off firecrackers should be banned, because we can take effective measures to prevent fires in advance. The following reasons can account for my preference.

The main reason is that setting off firecrackers is a traditional celebration, and it can create the rejoicing atmosphere during festivals. A good example to illustrate is that people used to set off firecrackers during Spring Festival to welcome the coming of New Year. For another, setting off firecrackers is part of Chinese traditional culture.

From the foregoing, I think setting off firecrackers shouldn’t be banned. Meanwhile, we should take some effective measures to prevent fires.
