《when you are old》的诗歌鉴赏
《When You Are Old》是爱尔兰诗人威廉·巴特勒·叶芝(William Butler Yeats)的作品。

when you are old赏析

when you are old赏析

when you are old赏析《When You Are Old》观赏析《When You Are Old》是爱尔兰著名诗人威廉·巴特勒·叶芝(William Butler Yeats)创作的一首诗歌。

诗人以“When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book,”开头,通过岁月的积淀和悠闲的时刻,将读者引入到一个爱情故事的情景中。

诗人写道:“How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face”。

When You Are Old

When You Are Old

When You Are Old
When You Are Old这首爱情诗是爱尔兰诗人叶芝(1865-1939)在29岁时写的。

You love me or not, Still there my love First read Yeats, in the novel Irish Coffee. I was attracted by the beautiful name. However, I am reading Yeast’s poetry for the first time, after a few years in Selected Readings in British and American Poetry Course. Listen to the tape, the exquisite voice slowly read this poem, “When you are old and grey and full of sleep…”My heart shook beneath strong convulsions suddenly. I’m really delighted with it. I often repeat it at sunset. A myriad of thoughts welled up in my mind. I expect that my love come quickly become more and more strong.I expect that love is no miss, no regrets. My lover and I can appreciate each other without external features. He doesn't care whether I am gorgeous. I don't care whether he is fabulously rich. But we are another soul mate, we have similar purpose and interests, we are together with growth and face these any inconveniences in life. And when we are old, we will quietly holding another hands, and memory together throughout the storms and troubles of life. He will still gazing tenderly at my eyes and tell me “you are my choice without regrets”. As Classic of Poetry said that “For life or for death, however separated, to our wives we pleadged our word. We held their hands; we are to grow old together with them.”Above is my love view which gets from When you are old, but now it has gradually blurred. I don't know whether love still exists in this society. People in society after baptism, will forget the love is really like; will someone accompany me to imagine such a love?In the poem, no gorgeous words, no sweet tenderness, don'teven hear a promise of love. The poet has a sad tone, recounting the irreparable love. Strange to relate, Yeats didn't get his love, but he had already saw love the happy ending which is cherishing each other and accompanied by hand with old. Though he did not come true the best wishes for love. In the when you are old; however, he embodies the moment love mature and realizes the true meaning of love. When you are old is Yeats for his lifelong love of a woman - a great Irish actor and successful political figures -Maude Gang wrote. In 1889, Yeats met the Irish patriot, revolutionary, and beauty Maud Gonne. He fell immediately in love with her, and remained so for the rest of his life; virtually every reference to a beloved in Yeast’s poetry can be understood as a reference to Maud Gonne. Tragically, Gonne did not return his love, and though they remained closely associated, they were never romantically involved. Yeats developed an obsessive infatuation with her beauty and outspoken manner, and she was to have a significant and lasting effect on his poetry and his life thereafter. Yeats proposed to Gonne three more times: in 1899, 1900 and 1901. She refused each proposal, and in 1903, to his horror, married the Irish nationalist Major John MacBride. In this life far loveless love, singing lonely love poetry, with leisurely calm and take a little hint of sadness. Yeats was prepared and waited Maude Gang the whole life. When you are old and grey and full of sleep. And nodding by the fire, take down this book. And slowly read, and dream of the soft look. Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending downbeside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead, And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.Yeats' diction and detail have similar effects—forcing the reader from their comfort to a chilled state of mind. As the woman is "nodding by the fire," she leafs through the book and recollects times of her "soft [looks]" and "sorrows" as she changed. She remembers her faded beauty that was admired by many, but then remembers the only man, the narrator, that loved her for her unique soul. He loved her even as she grew less beautiful and as her being changed in the fullness of time. However, Yeats calls the old woman to "Murmur a little sadly" about those bygone days now that he is through with "[pacing] upon the mountains overhead" and has now "[hidden] his face amid a crowd of stars." These said details provide a peak into the narrator's torn-apart heart as he evokes from her memories how patiently he waited for her as the sorrows of time wore away at her fragile beauty. His unconditional love for her was ignored and eventually forgotten as just another one ofher "false" and "true" loves among the stars in the night sky.I believe that Yeats holds his choice without regrets. As the Love adapt form Roy Croft said, “Love, I love you. Not only for what y ou are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you. Not only for what you have made of you, but for what you are making of me.” Love has no concern with others. Sometimes, love is private choice, love changes one’s choice, love becomes one’s pursuit.I like the second paragraph in the poem. “How many loved your moments of glad grace, and loved your beauty with love, with love false or true, but one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, love you found traces of face.” He loves her; all the poems are wr itten for her. He loves her, all people know the truth. Only Maude Gang didn’t know that? I don't know whether she understood but still unable to respond. So love is still only Yeast’s shows. Yeats immersed in this love inextricably bogged down in long. Whether readers appreciate his poem, but are not his reason and t his purpose. He just gets constantly sadness and happiness in his poem.Genuine love is an ideal toward which a couple strives. Can be referred to as soul mate if one didn’t understand another? I have no Maude Gang’s noble heart, but also have hope to pilgrim heart.I suppose that people are an independent individual. The heart likes a sealed glass ball. It is visible or touched, and there is no way to understand with each other. Love just needs someone to hold one's tongue, standing side by side, to experience the lonely world. When we are old, experienced years of existence and dies, then wander onto the high mountains, face hidden in the stars. Love is here between us. As the poem Meet Me or Not adapt from Calmness Joy. You meet me or not, Still there me standing, Not sad not happy. You miss me or not, Still there my emotions, Not coming not leaving. You love me or not, Still there my love, Not less not more. You follow me or not, Still there my hands in yours, Not abandoning. The most romantic thing in the world is to be getting older with you slowly.。

When you're old, the world seems to slow down, and the reflections of life become more poignant. "When You Are Old" is a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the enduring power of love. The poem, with its gentle cadence and evocative imagery, takes us on a journey through the eyes of an aged soul, looking back on a life filled with passion and regret. It's a narrative that resonates deeply, urging us to cherish the moments we have and the people we love. The opening lines set the stage for a heartfelt confession, a love that has withstood the test of time. The imagery of the fire glowing softly in the room, the shadows dancing on the walls, creates a serene backdrop for the tender emotions that unfold. As the poem progresses, the reader is drawn into the intimate space between the narrator and the subject of their affection, a space where time seems to stand still. The poem's message is universal, yet deeply personal. It speaks to the human condition, the longing for connection, and the inevitable passage of time. when you are old 赏析评论英文版读后感

when you are old 赏析评论英文版读后感

1102000413Love Beyond the Time----A Brief Analysis of Yeat’s Poem When You Are Old William Butler Yeats is generally acknowledged as the greatest poet and dramatist of Ireland. Written in 1839, the early work “When you are old”, is a small verse dedicated to the woman Yeats beloved. In 1889, the 24-year-old Yeats encountered a beautiful actress called Maud Gonne. He fell in deep love with her soon, and for the whole life. Unfortunately, she refused his proposal due to Yeats' meek and quiet characteristics as well as her unshakable pursuit for national movement.Dramatically, her refusal had produced a great poet: though Yeats' lovelorn had brought him ultimate distress, it had provided profound sentiments and mental resources for his poetry creation, which had transformed into many poems complicated in sentiments, profound in minds, and gracefulness in forms. This poem is divided into three sections, 12 lines totally. Though short, in truth, each word is read sincerely. It starts with a lovely and warm picture of an old lady: when you are old, my lady, and your hair have turned grey, you will be nodding by the fire, full of sleep. If you take out this poem and read it slowly and carefully, you will again see your soft and mild eyes you had when you were young. The sorrow and depth of your eyes will appear in your dream once again. The speaker imagines one day, when his beloved young lady is old, she will be reading this poem and feel the youth of herself again. The second stanza is a contrast between other admirers and the speaker: how many of your admirers love you are only because of your beauty and youth when you are graceful and elegant? Nevertheless, there is only one man who loves your noble soul and your aging face. The speak er refers to himself when he says: “one man”. The author exemplified the love she received from her past relationships by the contrast: Contrast between an attractive young girl and an old lady; Contrast between other people’s love and his; Contrast between reality and imagination. The picture describes seems to be old and clumsy, meanwhile, the picture is warm and fragrant. He described her soul as a “pilgrim”---- A person with a “pilgrim soul” must be set free to wander in life. Compared with the love of others, the author’s love is more sincere and loyal. The last stanza seems to be irrelevant to the previous stanzas, but it is the elevation of his affection: the old lady will bend down beside the stove and murmur sadly about the God of Love fleeing away. He goes up a mountain overhead and hides his face among a crowd of stars. This is only the literal meaning of the third stanza and the implied meaning is seeing the God of Love flee away may make you a little sad, but in fact, the God just hides himself in the sky. We may not be able to get married in the human world, but our soul can unite when we are in heaven. The third section comes back to the first stanza, creating an illusion of following time for readers that the past, present and future all collide. Although it is a pity that he and shecannot get married in the human world because the God of Love had left, they are still able to be together when they die. True love is not about physical love, but about spiritual love, like Plato’s love. This poem is unique on expressing feelings. Traditional English poem about love usually express feelings directly and strongly, or concentrate on a woman's beauty, running out of the beautiful words to praise the lover in the heart. And the style is also trend to be cheerful and permeated with the youth enthusiasm. However, Yeats, uncharacteristically, uses simple language to express his emotion. Never mind all these fancy phrases, just imagines many years later, when the woman read this poem by chance, she could realize that he is the one who would love her forever. Love is an eternal theme. Words cannot express the deep love and extraordinary emotion that conveyed in the poem. The whole poem uses the second person, you, to reveal writer’s innermost feelings. From the perspective of you, poet recalls the past sweetly, which is different to that he gives vent to the passionate love in the first person, making readers sympathize with the same way. The poet uses symbolization to express emotion. In the poem, “fire” symb olized warm; “mountain” symbolized tough, sublimation; “stars” symbolized forever. It indicates that Yeats’ attitude towards love is true, sincere and eternal. The poem shows an admiration of the “spirit love”rather than “body love”. The idea and the way expressing love is original and unique. The poet expresses his deep love for his lover. Though other people might love the beauty when she was young, they left her when she was old. But the poet is different--he still loves her very much. It is a true love. Reading what the poet writes, we feel true love is so touching and moving. How happy that beauty will be if she gets to know all this!Although his lover refused his proposal, his love is unalterable and becomes a kind of belief. So true love can stand the test of time--that is what the poet conveys to us through his poem. If we can have such memorable experience, we will regard it as the best gift in our life. I love this poem and hence love the poet, who presents to us such a beautiful and enlightening poem!。

在诗中,“You have known the depth of all those years”这句话表达了诗人对时光流逝的感慨和对人生的思考。

When you are old这个年纪说爱情,似乎很尴尬。

When You Are Old" by William Butler Yeats is a poignant and evocative poem that explores the bittersweet nature of passing time and the inevitable changes that accompany aging. The poem's haunting imagery and lyrical language create a vivid and moving meditation on the human condition. The poem opens with a series of vivid images that capture the physical and emotional toll of aging. The speaker describes "the withered hands" that once held "my passion's flower," and the "dim eyes" that once sparkled with youth. These stark descriptions convey a sense of loss and regret, as the speaker contemplates the passing of time and the fading away of beauty and vitality.Despite the poem's somber tone, there is also a sense of acceptance and quiet resignation. The speakeracknowledges the inevitability of aging and the futility of trying to resist it. He reflects on the wisdom and experience that come with age, and the beauty that can be found in the twilight of life. The poem's final stanza offers a particularly poignant and moving affirmation of the human spirit. The speaker imagines an aged lover reciting the poem to his beloved, even as the years have taken their toll on both of their bodies. Through this act of remembrance and shared sentiment, the speaker suggests that love has the power to transcend the ravages of time.Yeats' use of rich, evocative language and powerful imagery creates a deeply affecting poetic experience. The poem's themes of aging, loss, and the enduring power of love resonate with readers of all ages, offering both solace and wisdom in the face of life's inevitable challenges.

When you are old这个年纪说爱情,似乎很尴尬。

When you are old--- William Butler Yeats袁可嘉译When you are old and grey and full of sleep,当你老了,头白了,睡意昏沉,And nodding by the fire, take down this book,炉火旁打盹,请取下这部诗歌,And slowly read, and dream of the soft look. Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;回想它们昔日浓重的阴影;How many loved your moments of glad grace,多少人爱你青春欢畅的时辰,And loved your beauty with love false or true,爱慕你的美丽,假意或真心,But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,只有一个人爱你那朝圣者的灵魂,And loved the sorrows of your changing face;爱你衰老了的脸上痛苦的皱纹;And bending down beside the glowing bars,垂下头来,在红光闪耀的炉子旁,Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled,凄然地轻轻诉说那爱情的消逝,And paced upon the mountains overhead在头顶的山上它缓缓踱着步子,And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

“How many loved you movements of glad grace.多少人爱你青春欢畅的时辰”;“But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,只有一个人爱你那朝圣者的灵魂。

”;“And loved the sorrows of your changing face.

William Butler Yeats

”这些歌词与叶芝的《When you are old》有异曲同工之妙。
