The Taj Mahal

Shah Jahan finished building Taj Mahal in 1648. He was a rich and powerful emperor, and he built the T aj Mahal as a memorial for his wife. __1__ The word “taj” means crown, “Mahal” was the name of his wife. At daybreak, the Taj Mahal's white walls turn rose. At noon, they blaze(发光)white. At dusk, they become dark grey. __3__

After you pass through the gate, you step onto a wide stone platform. Y ou look over another garden with pools. Everything is arranged carefully in fours. __4__ The garden is divided into four parts. There are straight rows of colorful flowers and trees in each of the parts. At the four corners of the T aj Mahal, there are pointed tall towers. V alentine's Day was the time my father chose to show his love for the special people in his life. Over the years I fondly thought of him as my “V alentine Man”．

At the age of six, on V alentine's Day morning. I got a card singed “Love, Dad” for the first time and a gift of a ring with a small piece of red glass. As I grew older, the gifts gave way to signed “Love, Dad”. Y ear by year, the cards seemed less important, and I thought the valentine would always be there. I had placed my hopes and dreams in receiving cards and gifts from “important others”，and “Love. Dad” just didn't seem quite enough.

If my father knew he had been replaced, he never let it show. If he found I was unhappy, because I did not receive the valentines I expected, he would do what he could to make my day a little brighter.
