Now, first, welcome everybody to come here. I am Mandy.
I'm very happy to be with you and I hope you can enjoy yourself in the class.
Today we are going to learn something about the biggest festival in China, that is, the Chinese New Year. We can say it in Chinese " xin nian", (准备卡片1)which means "New Year", now let's pronounce it "xin nian"(叫学生单独朗读几遍)
Well, I know that New Year's Day is also a big public holiday in Germany, which is known as the first day of the year in the Gregorian calendar, right? While the Chinese New Year is celebrated on the first day of the lunar year, which is a small difference between Chinese and German culture.
OK, now let's see, during the New Year, people will participate in many many activities. I've heard that people in some villages in Black Forest of southwestern Germany will hold a grand parade on the New Year's Eve. And people in Germany will set off fireworks to drive away the devils and celebrate the coming year as well.
On the Chinese New Year, people will also do that, they will set off the "烟花" (yan hua卡片2)"yan"means the smoke that is caused by the fireworks, and "hua"means flowers. You know, the sparkling fireworks in the sky are so fantastic that they look like the blossom of the flowers. That is why Chinese call "fireworks" as "yan hua". (Repeat)
Well, I know that during the New Year Eve, the ministers or mayors will give their speech to wish everybody good luck and blessings in Germany.
People in China, when they meet, usually express our good wishes to each other face to face. The most common one, you know, is "恭喜"(卡片3),meaning that good blessings will come to you.
We will put our hands like this and bow.(作鞠躬状)At the same time, we will say "恭喜恭喜". And we can also say like "恭喜发财”(卡片4)"fa cai" means you will earn lots of money in the new year and will be pretty wealthy. And you know, there is an interesting tradition, when others say "恭喜发财" to you, you can say "红包拿来"(卡片5),which means "give me the money"
(自备一个红包,作展示) here,"hong bao"(卡片6)is a red envelope with money in it, this is what people are extremely eager to get it, especially for the children on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
(和学生做互动,对话“恭喜发财,红包拿来”,重复,纠音)And of course, "happy new year" won't be missed, that is,“新年好”(卡片7)(Repeat)
I will play a small game. I will divide you into two groups. I'd like you try to recognize the Chinese pin yin, pin yin is the phonetic transcription, when I speak out the Chinese, OK? And you try to find the card according to what I said, and then hold it up and shout out the
